I came to the Body + Brain Healing Center to attend yoga classes a couple of weeks ago. I was always tired, no energy, with back problems, hip tensions and suffering with chronic migraines. Because of my work schedule, I decided later that private sessions would work best for me. It was the best decision.
At every session, I discovered something about myself, something that I have kept deep inside, something that kept holding me back. But at every session, I peeled away another layer. I'm more energetic, more calm, more at peace. I have learned that I can heal myself. That I have the power and the energy to rejuvenate myself. I had always had the power! Annet M. |
December 2014 and part of January 2015 was a very special time for me. I visited my family in Oak Park for the holidays. While there I attended the Body + Brain Healing Center run by master Alena Stankova. She and her members made me feel welcome and right away I felt "at home."
Alena appears to be simple, humble, gracious and very powerful. With her gentle, loving way, she would challenge my limitations and encourage me to stay on the pathway toward completion. Her instructions are clear, direct and supportive which I found very helpful. Obviously the center in Oak Park has been building a new, spiritual community. It is a right place for everybody to grow and be inspired. I extremely enjoyed my time there and feel grateful to have met Alena Stankova and her members with whom I could contemplate my 2014 and plan my new coming year of 2015. Krystyna T. |
I have been a member at the Oak Park Body + Brain Center for almost a year now. I came in looking for flexibility and strength but what I found was much more! I found myself.
I have learned to find peace, strength in myself and the power to change. It is hard to believe but with a class I am able to release all the stress I hold all day. I leave feeling relaxed, happy and at peace. After taking some of the classes I was able to find out more about myself and find the tools necessary to change some of the things that I didn't like about me. I am so happy I found this place! A year ago, my friend Martha brought me to my first Body + Brain Healing Yoga class. I left after about twenty minutes - had no idea how someone could stay in class for over an hour. Patience was not one of my virtues. My friend coaxed me to come again. This time I stayed a little longer and realized that there was something here that I needed, but I was still resistant.
Fast forward a year later. I am literally a different person and I have Master Alena, who is a true healer and her yoga classes to thank. I attend three to four classes a week. Each one is slightly different, which makes it more interesting, fun and probably better for our bodies. I know that no matter how I am feeling when I walk into class- whether I'm upset, agitated, crabby, jumpy, tense, or unfocused, I will walk out feeling rejuvenated, calm, centered and peaceful. I am now getting regular exercise, am learning how to tune into my body, am becoming much more flexible, and am feeling a lot better about myself. What a gift this class has been to me! I have been fortunate to practice Tai- Chi and Yoga since 2013 with Alena. I'm a retired teacher, and before I learned of this practice, I used to swim or walk on the treadmill. Tai-Chi became my favorite type of exercise because it's appropriate for my age.
It's giving me balance and flexibility with its soft movements that don't hurt my body. I've also learned how to take care of my joints and other parts that used to give me pain. Tai-Chi and Yoga would help anybody to feel less stressed and more energetic. I strongly recommend these practices! Maria G. |
I joined my sister at this yoga center while vacationing in the area. I was looking for relief from shoulder discomfort and severely reduced range of motion due to an injury I had experienced almost a year earlier.
I took six diverse classes and had three healing sessions with Master Alena, the very compassionate and skilled owner/manager. After the third healing session I had recovered all range of motion in my shoulder joint. I also learned what areas of my body were chronically holding tension as well as many techniques to help me release tension. The most important benefit I received, however, was a greatly increased awareness of my body and a growing ability to listen to what it is telling me. My posture, core strength and digestion have also improved - all unexpected and happy side-effects of classes and healing sessions. I am happy to recommend this Center and its practitioners to anyone, regardless of their past experience with yoga or other fitness options. Nancy A. |
When I first went to Body + Brain Healing Center I was looking for a Tai Chi class and what I found was so much more. When I met Alena she explained so much to me - I had no idea how much was going on with me. I always knew I suffered from anxiety, but I didn't know how badly it affected other areas of my life. Coming to class weekly has alleviated my anxiety and helped me with personal relationships.
I am happier and more balanced. I am more flexible than I could have ever imagined. Most importantly, I now know that I am in complete control of my life. I create my future and have control over my emotions. I would have never known any of this was possible without attending classes at Body + Brain. Jessica L. |
It has been 15 months since I started training at the Body + Brain Healing Center in Oak Park, IL. Initially I came to improve my physical condition. Primarily I had low back pain and my left hip was becoming painful and I had limited mobility in the hip. These discomforts were taking away my ability to do the things I enjoy. My attitude about myself was becoming negative. I was not enjoying family and friends because I was getting judgmental about how they were living their lives.
Within a month of my training at the center, my physical condition began a dramatic improvement. I was surprised to find that I was happier and able to smile again. After training for 3 1/2 months I heard some surprising and wonderful news from my Chiropractor. He examined my spine and hips. Then, looking directly at me, the doctor said, "Patti, you have saved yourself from a hip replacement. That is where you were heading." What is the great happening that allowed me this good fortune and this miracle of healing? My practice of Yoga improved my physical condition in an amazing way! Through the training and workshops, I became aware of my habits and thoughts. I had not realized that my negative patterns were impacting me in so many ways. One of the best gifts I have gotten from the training is the knowledge that I can change and take action to create the life I want. Thank you to Alena & Body + Brain Healing Center. Patti R. |
